    "I'm Phoenix Wright, a semi-famous defense attorney.

My clients are always the most desperate of the desperate. But I believe
in them. I believe in their innocence 100%!

The courtroom is a fierce battleground. The tables are turned time and
time again. But there is one thing I am sure of:

The truth always reveals itself in the end!"

-from the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All manual

Phoenix Wright rises again. Returning to the courtroom after his triumphs in
the original Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, the titular lawyer attempts to
right all sorts of wrongs in this similarly styled sequel. He faces an uphill
battle against a ruthless system that promises justice for none.

All trials start immediately and are mandated to last no more than three days.
Prosecutors are free to introduce any evidence, fabricated or not, and
manipulate witness testimony to highlight only those facts damaging to
defendants, the truth be damned. The courts are no longer about protecting the
innoncent or punishing the guilty, but for convicting everyone.

Phoenix Wright's mission is to remedy the situation. As a defense attorney,
his duty involves preparing a vigorous defense for his client, but Wright is
about absolute truth, and he puts everything he has on the line to get to the
bottom of each and every case. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney gives you the
opportunity to guide Phoenix through four such cases.

This is accomplished through a first-person text adventure. Outside the
courtroom, you'll have to survey the areas around the scene of the crime,
collecting valuable evidence and interviewing witnesses to uncover valuable
facts. Once the court proceedings are underway, you must read through witness
testimony in order to find inconsistencies, and then Phoenix can nail the
witness to the wall with contradictory evidence. Piece together the facts,
and justice will prevail. Fail, and your client will lose his freedom forever.
Good luck!

Phoenix Wright - Ace Attorney: Justice for All features four cases. Solve one
case, and you'll unlock the next challenge. However, to navigate through each
adventure, you must utilize a couple of different modes: Detective Work and
Courtroom Questioning.

                       +-------------------------------+
                                Detective Work
                       +-------------------------------+

Some of the key evidence for a trial can only be found by having Phoenix snoop
around for himself. After all, there's no way the prosecution is going to hand
him the keys to the case every time. Don't worry, though, because it's
impossible for Phoenix to lose while he's playing Sherlock Holmes. The game
won't allow you to proceed until all relevant clues and testimony have been
collected and heard.

Evidence collected is stored in the Court Record, a valuable menu area where
you can peruse all relevant details of the evidence or review the profiles
of the people involved in each case. The facts laid forth in the Court Record
are the ones that will be used to challenge falsehoods laid out in witness
testimony.

The menu for Detective Work has four options:

Examine - When Phoenix is in his investigative mode, he can examine his
surroundings to look for clues. When you hit the Examine button, the
picture of the area will migrate from the top to the bottom screen.
Moving the crosshairs(with stylus or d-pad) over the picture, any
item of interest will illuminate another "Examine" button. Phoenix
will automatically pick up any item that can be used as evidence.
Be sure to examine even the most mundane of objects; anything can
serve as a key to unlock a case's secrets.

Move - This lists all the locations Phoenix can travel to from his current
location. Only currently available locations are listed; as Phoenix
investigates he may find other places to travel. Obviously, it's to
our attorney's advantage to investigate every area available to him.
Also, since he cannot go directly from each area to every other area,
it's useful to note how the areas are connected. It could even help
in reconstructing the events of the crime!

Talk - Phoenix will frequently run into people while he's investigating. Make
sure to speak with everyone about all the available subjects. Sometimes
revisiting with a person after other events have unfolded will unlock
new and more revealing topics of conversation. In certain instances,
witnesses will be incapable or unwilling to reveal certain secrets; this
is where the new concept of Psyche-Locks come into play. (See below for
       a more detailed explanation.)

Present - You can also have Phoenix present evidence he has collected to an
interested party to elicit more information; this includes both items
and pictures of people involved in the case. These are the easiest
hints to miss, since the clues of what to present to whom can be lost
in a line of dialogue. If you ever get stuck, it's probably because
you have overlooked presenting someone with an item from the Court
          Record.

                                  Psyche-Locks
                       +-------------------------------+

Psyche-Locks are a new challenge standing in the way of Phoenix's evidence
gathering efforts. When a witness is faced with a particularly sensitive
topic of conversation, they will not be able to speak freely about the
subject. Phoenix can see these mystical locks through the power of Maya's
spritually charged magatama; the more there are, the bigger the secret.

Breaking through them requires methods very similar to the cross-examination
techniques he utilizes in court. The subject might tell a lie, which Phoenix
must refute with hard evidence from the Court Record. Once a Psyche-Locke
is broken, speaking with the witness will continue normally. It will also
replenish his life meter about halfway.

The first step in breaking a Psyche-Lock is to Present Maya's Magatama to
the target, but the real key is knowing when to stop pursuit; a fact that the
game stresses as well. Attempting and failing to break a lock will reduce
Phoenix's life meter. He won't lose when it's empty; it will always maintain
a sliver, but that will obviously reduce future margin for error. Just keep
this in mind, you almost never have the ammo required to break a lock at the
point it is introduced.

                       +-------------------------------+
                             Courtroom Questioning
                       +-------------------------------+

Once in the courtroom, Phoenix has to cross examine each witness in order to
expose his lies. This is done by not only presenting the right evidence, but
unveiling it at the correct moment -- exactly when the lie is perpetrated.
The Judge will only brook spurious allegations for so long; his patience is
literally represented in the style of a life meter. Present irrelevant
facts too many times and the trial will end immediately in favor of the
prosecution.

The testimony can be reviewed as often as you wish, during which you will
have two options:

Press - Phoenix will needle the witness about the current statement whenever
you choose the "Press" option. This is a valuable option because it
not only futher illuminates some facts -- sometimes you can destroy
entire stories by merely pressing certain points -- but it usually
cannot count against your quota of strikes and jeopardize the outcome
        of the trial.

Present - Most often, a witness's falsehoods can only be exposed with
decisive evidence that directly contradicts his testimony. When
to reveal the truth arrives, press "Present" in the upper right
corner of the screen. Choose the piece of evidence that refutes
the witness's claims, and Phoenix will be one step closer to clearing
his client and uncovering the real perpetrator. Present wisely,
though, as Phoenix's life meter will deplete with every misstep. The
amount lost will be proportional to the importance of his mistake.
When the meter his empty, the case is over for everyone.

                               Witness Testimony
                            Detective Dick Gumshoe
                           -- Decisive Evidence --
                       +-------------------------------+

Statement 1 : There's something more incriminating than the glasses under the
              victim's body, sir.
Statement 2 : During his date, the victim was pushed from the bench area.
Statement 3 : But he managed to write the culprit's name on the ground where
              he landed.
Statement 4 : I don't like saying it, but it was clearly the defendant's name,
              "Maggie", sir.
Statement 5 : With this piece of evidence and the glasses, it's hard to say
              she's not the culprit.

                            -- Dustin and Maggey --
                       +-------------------------------+
Statement 1 : Officer Prince and Officer Byrde had been going out for about
              half a year.
Statement 2 : It sounded like they were even talking about marriage.
Statement 3 : The day of the incident just happened to be the victim's
              birthday, sir.
Statement 4 : Maggey... I mean, Officer Byrde, had gotten Officer Prince a
              present.
Statement 5 : It was something she had gotten over 2 months ago.
Statement 6 : I should know, 'cause she came to me to ask what she should get
              for him.

-- Writing on the Ground --
                       +-------------------------------+
Statement 1 : We first looked into the handwriting, sir.
Statement 2 : Unfortunately, we couldn't confirm that it was the victim's
              handwriting.
Statement 3 : Next, we checked the victim's pointer finger.
Statement 4 : We found there was sand trapped under the victim's fingernail.
Statement 5 : There were also scratches on the skin that were caused by him
              writing on the ground.
Statement 6 : From this, we could confirm that the victim wrote this name with
              his right hand.

              situation.
Statement 2 : I don't remember the time all that well, but I do believe it was
              past 6 PM.
Statement 3 : All of a sudden, a police officer falls from above, right in
              front of my eyes.
Statement 4 : Without a thought, I looked up, and there I met the eyes of a
              charming, young lady.
Statement 5 : Of course, I remember her sweet face. It was that of the pretty
              defendant there.
Statement 6 : The only other thing I saw was the banana that fell with the
              police officer.

Statement 3 : No matter what I say, all I get in return is a vacant stare and
              polite applause.
Statement 4 : Since no one ever laughs at my jokes, I've taken to laughing at
              them myself.
Statement 5 : It's a bad habit, but hey, at least I'm trying!!
Statement 6 : Imagine my predicament! I'm a clown who can't make people
              laugh!! I'm almost useless!
Statement 7 : But I keep trying... I even tried to come up with jokes just
              for today!!

Statement 1 : The night of the murder, after practice was over, I went straight
              back to my room.
Statement 2 : You have no idea how tired I was that night. I was pooped.
Statement 3 : I thought I'd go straight to sleep, but before I did, I glanced
              out the window.
Statement 3a: I heard a huge noise outside the window, and that's what made me
              take a look outside...
Statement 4 : That's when I saw two silhouettes! They were a bit far away
              though!
Statement 5 : It was the Ringmaster, and he was with Max, who was wearing
              his cloak!
Statement 6 : I kept watching them, and all of a sudden, Max clonked the
              Ringmaster over the head!

                       +-------------------------------+
Statement 1 : I was a bit far away, but that shadow could only have belonged
              to Max.
Statement 2 : There's no doubting it. Especially since I saw his uppity
              symbols.
Statement 3 : His silk hat. That black cloak. They were all there!
Statement 4 : His face was silhouetted, but there was no doubt that it was
              him.
Statement 5 : His cloak was fluttering in the wind, so I couldn't really see
              what he was carrying.

Statement 1 : There's no doubt in my mind! There were no white roses that
              night!
Statement 2 : However, all of the other symbols were there... I'm equally
              sure of that.
Statement 3 : Especially the silk hat! There is no way I could forget seeing
              the decorations on it!

Statement 1 : Now it's time for our next segment, "Moe knows..."!!
Statement 2 : Everything I've said up until now has been the truth!
Statement 3 : When I looked out the window, the Ringmaster was down and Max
              was standing above him!
Statement 4 : He wasn't wearing his white roses, but he was wearing the silk
              hat!
Statement 5 : That's when I saw... He...
Statement 6 : This is the truth now, get ready for it!
Statement 7 : He flew! He jumped up and flew through the air!!
Statement 8 : He flew right off and disappeared into the darkness!
Statement 9 : That's why there were no footprints! Flying people don't leave
              footprints!

                           -- What You Witnessed --
                       +-------------------------------+
Statement 1 : It was just after 10:00 PM, and I was resting in my bed.
Statement 2 : Around that time, I heard a large "THUMP" noise from outside
              the window.
Statement 3 : Then a few moments later, I saw someone... Flying... Right by
              my window.
Statement 4 : It was Max Galactica... I only saw him from behind, but that's
              who it looked like.
Statement 5 : To be honest, when I saw that, I thought I was dreaming...

                            -- Cross Examination --
                       +-------------------------------+
1. Press Statement 2.
2. (Hmm... Maybe something was contradictory with what he just said...)

       A) There's nothing wrong.

3. Press Statement 3.
4. (I wonder if Acro's statement jives with the facts...)

       A) There's nothing wrong.

5. Press Statement 4.
6. (But maybe there was something fishy with his latest bit of testimony?)

       B) There is a contradiction.

7. Do you have any evidence to support your claim of a contradiction?

       Present -> Silk Hat

8. What would cause this witness to commit perjury in this court today?

       C) Acro is the real culprit.

9. What do you say about this, Mr. Wright? Did Acro have an accomplice?

       B) Of course he didn't.

10. When the crime was committed, exactly where was Mr. Dingling?

       Designate -> Acro's Room (3F)

11. Time to enlighten us as to how Mr. Dingling committed the crime,
    Mr. Wright!

       A) Present evidence

    Berry?

                       +-------------------------------+
Statement 1 : I suppose I could have lifted something the size of that bust.
Statement 2 : I have a strong upper body from working as an acrobat, and only
              my legs were injured.
Statement 3 : However, lifting the bust and looking out the window would've
              been impossible.
Statement 4 : There's no way I could have exerted that kind of force on my
              lower body.
Statement 5 : That makes it impossible for me to have known the location of the
              Ringmaster's head.
Statement 6 : Thus, it would be unrealistic for me to drop the bust on him.
              Don't you think?

Statement 2 : That's when the Ringmaster of the Berry Big Circus, Russell
              Berry, took us in.
Statement 3 : I became an acrobat at around nine years old.
Statement 4 : I wanted to find a way to repay the Ringmaster. That was my

Statement 1 : This murder happened after the Hero of Heroes award ceremony,
              sir.
Statement 2 : The victim, Juan Corrida, was found dead in his hotel room.
Statement 3 : After looking into the cause of death, we believe he was
              definitely murdered, sir.
Statement 4 : At first, we thought there was something suspicious about the
              empty guitar case.
Statement 5 : However, we later found out that the guitar case had nothing to
              do with the murder.

              in my book.
Statement 3 : As for evidence... There's the Jammin' Ninja's button.
Statement 4 : It was ripped off of the ninja costume and was found in
              Mr. Engarde's "hakama."
Statement 5 : The defendant's fingerprints were also all over the knife.
Statement 6 : The defendant bought the knife for the crime... Which makes this

Statement 1 : Actually, this is an elaborate puzzle.
Statement 2 : If you know the correct order, it can be taken apart one piece
              at a time.
Statement 3 : At its center is a small cavity, with just enough room to store
              a small item.
Statement 4 : Because of its complexity, if you don't know the order, you can't
              open the bear.
Statement 5 : You really can't tell that it's a small "jewelry box" just by
              looking at it.

                       +-------------------------------+
Statement 1 : There is something I must first state.
Statement 2 : To an assassin, nothing is more important than the trust between
              a client and himself.
Statement 3 : And that is the reason I am here today on this witness stand.
Statement 4 : It is my wish that you grasp this concept before I give you the
              name of my client.
Statement 4a: Now then, I do believe it's about time I revealed the name of
              my client, don't you agree?

                         -- About My Client, Part 2 --
                       +-------------------------------+
Statement 1 : As I have already stated quite a few times, Adrian Andrews is
              my client. However.
Statement 2 : One thing I simply cannot overlook is tampering with the scene
              of the crime.
Statement 3 : My client did it to frame another for the crime.
Statement 4 : While pretending to be the first person to discover the body and
              enter the scene,
Statement 5 : Adrian Andrews already knew from the very beginning that Juan
              Corrida was dead!
Statement 6 : But even more appaling is the creation and planting of the
              "knife" and "button".
Statement 7 : That act is what I was referring to when I said my client had
              "broken the rules."

Statement 1 : Yes, now I remember, I took that request by mail.
Statement 2 : There have been times when I took a job without having met my
              client.
Statement 3 : The request was for the murder of Juan Corrida and 2 or 3 other
              small things.
Statement 3a: One of these was to find the bear figurine and give it to
              Adrian Andrews.
Statement 4 : When I saw the name at the end of the letter, I thought my
              client to be a man.
