3. INTRODUCTION
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

        While playing Gran Turismo 3 A-spec, I noticed that the game had an
amazing amount of information on each individual car. Thereafter, I noticed
that no FAQs or walkthroughs covered it. So I took matters into my own hands
and made the Car Information Database that you see here.

        The descriptions of each company and car are taken directly from the
game, and the cars are sorted as they are in-game. As of now this guide
doesn't have any of my own notes or strategies for each car. Could that be in
the future? Possibly. I may even include some charts comparing the cars. As
of now, enjoy what information I have included. So far.

        Feel free to send in any information that I don't have to my e-mail
address ([email protected]), but before you do, make sure that it is 100%
correct. If you send me information I don't yet have, I'll credit you in the
credits section. If you decide to contribute something, please tell me what
car it is by using the numbered system in my guide. For example, if you
wanted to provide information on the Jaguar XJ220 Road Car, you'd say 22-2.
22 being the company, Jaguar, and 2 being the car, XJ220 Road Car. The
numbers of each car are listed to the left of their names.

4. VERSION HISTORY
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Version 2.0 - 7/28/2001
* Wow, version 2.0 already?
* Two Jaguars done.
* Alfa Romeo section is done.
* Put in the stats for the Aston Martin DB7 Vantage.

Version 1.9 - 7/25/01 :
* Shelby section is complete.
* Lancia section is finished.
* CitroŽn section is done.
* Added a couple of specs in the Subaru section.

Version 1.8 - 7/21/01 :
* Pretty big update.
* From now on I'm not going to mark every single thing someone contributes in
the update section. It was kind of dumb to give recognition to people in the
version history when that's the job of the credits.
* Suzuki section is complete.
* Added some Acura stats.
* Put in the stats for the Audi TT 1.8T quattro.
* Fixed lots of the model years.

Version 1.7 - 7/18/01 :
* Most arcade mode cars have been marked, unlocked and locked. If anyone
knows what the following cars are please tell me: Roadster, Delsol sir.
* I know I'm missing one A-Class arcade mode car. If anyone knows which one
it is please tell me.
* Added specs for a few Toyota cars.

Version 1.65 - 7/18/01 :
* Filled in the model number for the Tommy kaira ZZ-S thanks to MikePWV
([email protected])
* Thanks to David Sanchez ([email protected]) for letting me know the
model years of the Lexus IS and the Subaru 22B STi Version.
* Rally arcade cars are now marked.
* I promise I'll have some more car entries done by today.

Version 1.6 - 7/18/01 :
* Corrected a few mistakes of the cars' names and years.
* Most, if not all, of the initial arcade mode road cars have been
determined. Next up is the rally cars and the ones you unlock.

Version 1.5 - 7/16/01 :
* Added stats for the Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R.
* Put in all the stats for the 1993 Mazda MX-5 Miata.
* Mini Cooper 1.3i stats are in. Entire Mini section is finished.
* Added a literal progress bar at the top of the database.
* Changed the Subaru WRX to 2002 and the Subaru 228 to 22B thanks to Jet
Acevedo ([email protected]).

Version 1.4 - 7/15/01 :
* 100% done with the company descriptions. Time to works on the cars now!

Version 1.3 - 7/15/01 :
* A bunch more company descriptions are now in the database.
* I now know that the Acura RSX Type-S is a 2001 model thanks to Jason Evans
([email protected]).

Version 1.2 - 7/15/01 :
* Changed the format and line sizing yet again to make it easier to read.
This should be the final format.
* BMW section is finished.
* Volkswagen section is complete.
* A few more company descriptions are now in.
* Discovered the Camaro Race Car is a 1997 model thanks to Paradox
([email protected]).
* Added a progress bar to keep up with how much of the database is finshed.

Version 1.1 - 7/14/01 :
* Format was really messed up when file was changed to txt format. That is
now fixed.
* All cars now have the amount of credits listed needed to purchase said car.
* Added another car that was left out in the first version.
* Quick car list is now pretty much complete in terms of cars being included.
Not done distinguishing the rally cars and the race cars. Arcade mode cars
have not been attempted to be determined yet.
* Good number of company descriptions now in database. Chrysler and Dodge
section pretty much finished.

Version 1.0 - 07/13/01 :
* The first version.
* Basic layout completed and a little bit of car information entered in.
Pretty bare altogether.
* Check the PT Cruiser entry to see how a car entry will each look when it's
finished.

                        The NSX made its debut in September 1990 as a pure
                sports car built with all of Honda's technical expertise, and
                is sold under the Acura nameplate in the US. Honda started
                the Acura brand in the United States in 1986 in order to
                distinguish new luxury models from its more traditional North
                American offerings. Other Japanese manufacturers later
                followed Honda's lead and established their own luxury
                marques.

                1994. "Vantage" is a traditional Aston Martin name given only
                to their high performance versions, and this one, although
                based on the DB7, has been given a considerable performance
                boost over the normal DB7.

                        Is it a car? Or is it a truck? The Chrysler PT

                Cobra got some "New Edge" makeover as other Mustangs, and an
                increase in power. But, most importantly, for the first time,
                the SVT Cobra has independent rear suspension (IRS) for
                significantly improved handling, especially on bumpy roads.
                This is a first in the "pony car" class, and also makes the

                There can be no more doubt that the Eunos Roadster (Mazda
                Miata in the US) carved out a unique niche as the car that
                revived the sports roadster. It has now become the open
                sports car by which all others are judged. The Eunos Roadster
                made its appearance in March 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show
                under the name "Miata/MX-5" for the US market, and went on
                sale in its "hometown" of Japan in September. At the time,
                lightweight two-seater convertibles seemed extinct. The few
                that were still in production were relics of the 60's and
                70's. But suddenly, Mazda of Japan put this car in the ring
                and forever changed automotive history.
