INTRODUCTION

You have never played anything like Grand Theft Auto 3... after picking it up, you
may never play anything again. Grand Theft Auto3 is all about possibility. At any
given point in the game, you can do one of a million things. Listen to the radio.
Car jack someone. Double-cross the mob. Give someone an illegal taxicab ride. Or
just beat on him with a bat. If you can think it, you can pretty much do it...
that's the beauty of the game.

Set in Liberty City, Grand Theft Auto 3 is seemingly alive, teeming with hundreds
of city dwellers, all of which are fully interactive. Each one has his own agenda.
Businessmen hurry to work, bums get in your way, hookers hustle for the almighty
dollar, and gang members conduct their surly business all over Liberty City. If you
interrupt their lives, they'll let you know about it. Some will chase you. Others
will run in fear. Some will call their buddies to bust your chops.

Your goal is to work your way up the corrupt chain of command of Liberty City's
gangs. Along the way, you'll have to lie, cheat and steal, and even kill to claw
your way to the top. You'll be helped by many implements of destruction: Uzi's,
baseball bats, assault rifles, rocket launchers, grenades, Molotov cocktails, flame
throwers and more.

Of course, there could be no robbers without cops. Liberty City is protected by a
bevy of law enforcement: from the petty beat cop to high ranking FBI officials and
even the Army. Conduct your shady deals out of sight, or suffer the consequences.
The police are always on the lookout for criminal behavior, and will put you down if
you're not careful.

Luckily, there are a lot of places to run and hide. Liberty City boasts three
separate districts: Portland, Staunton Island and Shoreside Vale. Each is unique in
its architecture, inhabitants and automobiles. But each also has plenty of places to
get into trouble.

Sound complex? It is. But IGN Guides is here to help. With a full walkthrough, tips
on how to get ahead, districts information and hints on how to beat Johnny Law, this
is the most comprehensive guide you'll find anywhere on the web. So, what are you
waiting for? Step inside.

Since GTA3 is so non-linear and missions can be completed in orders other than
listed, we suggest sticking to one boss at a time until all his jobs are exhausted
or you no longer can take the job without completing another (like Toni and
Salvatore in Portland). We have provided optional tips on missions that have
unlimited solutions, which is true for most since there are numerous ways to off
someone or destroy something. In other words, you don't have to stick to the guide,
but if you get stuck, we have solutions that work. Enjoy.

The Radar

The radar in the lower left corner of the screen will quickly become your best
friend. You will never be left in the dark as long as you keep an eye on this
devise. It will always direct you to savehouses, more work and targets within
missions. The bosses are displayed on the radar by icons of their first initial and
remain on the radar until all work from that boss is exhausted.

Savehouses

Portland, Staunton Island and Shoreside Vale all contain one area where you can go
to hideout and save your game progress, these are the ‘Savehouses.’ These savehouses
appear on the radar as a small house icon and only the closest one will appear on
the radar. To save your progress and the vehicle you drove up in, place one vehicle
in the garage (1 in Portland, but 2 possible in Shoreside and Shoreside) and enter
the savehouse and save your game on a PS2 8mb Memory card. Each time you save the
game 6 hours will pass in Liberty City and any damaged cars parked in the garage
will be fully repaired! The 100 hidden package prizes (weapons and other power-ups)
will appear at each savehouse as they are unlocked by finding packages in increments
of 10. You cannot save your progress if you are currently in a mission –only before
or after.

Liberty City Police Stations

When you get ‘Busted’ you end up at the closest police station where they take all
your weapons and four hundred dollars in bribery money. When you are busted,
whatever mission you were working on will end up in failure. The only time you can
be arrested is when you are pulled out of a vehicle by the authorities. If you are
not in a vehicle and you have a Wanted Level, they just shoot to kill (or waste) and
then you end up in the hospital where the bill is larger than a bribe.

Understanding Wanted Levels

Looking in the top right corner of the in-game screen you’ll find a strip of six
stars, this is your wanted level and it depicts just how bad you’ve been. The level
increases from right to left as the stars light up to show your level of trouble.
Doing nothing to relax the wanted level and continuing to add trouble on top of your
existing wanted level will increase the level and with that comes greater forces of
good to rain down on you.

Wanted Level Ramifications of Wanted Level

Lvl 1 LCPD Lvl 1
Lvl 2 LCPD Lvl 2
Lvl 3 SWAT Lvl 1 and 1 Helicopter
Lvl 4 SWAT Lvl 2
Lvl 5 FBI
Lvl 6 Army and 2nd Helicopter

What’s Bad?

The following is a list of thing that will raise your wanted level.

Stealing Police Car w/cop inside
Targeting police (even without pulling trigger)
Fighting in cop’s sight
Carjacking in cop’s sight
Running into a cop car w/cop inside
Fighting cops
Reducing Wanted Levels

The following list shows ways to lower wanted levels.

Stay out of sight for a while
Become Wasted (not a good choice)
Complete the current mission
Painting your (non-law enforcement) car at Pay ‘n’ Spray
Running through Police Bribe power-ups

TIPS

Health Tips

The following is a list of ways to increase health

Find Heart power-ups
Enter ambulances for 20 health points
Getting wasted (fails mission but gives full health)
Shooting

R2 and L2 Buttons cycles through your weapons
Circle button shoots the weapon
Hold the R1 button for targeting
While holding R1 you can switch targets by pressing R2 or L2 (depending on the
direction of target) Hold down R1 targeting button to remain locked onto targets
while running (Handgun, Uzi, Grenades and Molotov Cocktails)
Drive-by Shooting

Select the Colt 45 or the Uzi before entering the vehicle, press the R2 or L2
buttons along with the circle button to fire, and your arm will reach out the window
and fire. The only way to aim your weapon at a particular target is to steer the car
in the right position and use the forward and reverse to tweak your aim.

Braking

If you need to make sharp high speed turns, use the handbrake to flip the backend of
the car in the direction of the turn. The regular brake only slow you down and force
a wider, slower turn. At extremely high speeds you will have to use both brakes to
avoid spinouts or turnovers.

Carjacking

To stop a moving vehicle, pull your car in front of the targeted vehicle. If you’re
on foot, step out in front of the vehicle (at a safe distance) to stop it and then
press the triangle button. As long as you are facing the car you want to steal it
doesn’t matter what side of the car you are on in order to initiate the carjacking
animation. Not all victims of carjackings will react the same, some will be very
passive and even run away and on the opposite side of the coin, those packing heat
will try to cap you.

Running and Endurance Training

Holding the X button and moving while on foot will make your character run. In the
beginning of the game, you’ll only be able to run short distances before becoming
tired and slowing down to a slow walk. If stop to take some breaths you’ll recover
quicker than if you continue to walk. The more you remain on foot to travel in the
game the more endurance you build up. Your character needs exercise to build up
endurance. If you hike it more often you’ll soon notice longer running distances
before tiring.

ITEMS

Health Power-ups

Once obtained, these power-ups return your health to 100%. They do nothing if your
health is already maxed.

Armor Power-ups

Gives you 100 points of added protection to your health. The armor will shield your
health meter and take the hit first but when exhausted, your health meter will
return to taking the brunt damage.

Adrenaline Power-ups

These power-ups give you hulk-like strength! Pick one up, punch someone and watch
them fly through the air.

Police Bribe Power-ups

Run through these power-ups to lower your wanted level one star (level) at a time.

Rampages

When you walk through one of these icons, a Rampage Challenge will begin. In a
Rampage challenge you are given a weapon with unlimited ammo and 120 seconds to
complete a certain objective, which usually consists of eliminating 20 gang members
or vehicles. Each Rampage icon has two different locations on the map, if the
challenge is failed then all the Rampage challenges shift two their second
positions, fail it again and they all shift back to their original positions.

100 Hidden Packages

100 Packages hidden in Liberty City, each worth $1,000, and with every 10 packages
found, a regenerating power-up will appear at your savehouses.

WEAPONS

If you need a weapon you must first exit a vehicle and then walk through it to pick
it up. Weapons can be collected from fallen foes, gang members and some pedestrians.
You can buy weapons from AmmuNation Gun Shop and lastly, there are regenerating
weapon power-ups hidden throughout Liberty City.

Baseball Bat

Louisville slugger, primitive but effective when you aren’t packing heat.

Handgun

The colt 45 is the most commonly found weapon in Liberty City. This weapon can be
used while running! Good for short and long range shooting.

Shotgun

The shotgun is very damaging at short range but lacks punch at greater distances.
You cannot run and fire this weapon at the same time.

Uzi

A lightweight rapid-fire machinegun, which can be used while running. Good for short
and long medium range firing.

Molotov Cocktail

Similar to a grenade but cheaper to make, this gasoline filled bottle causes an
instant fire attack as opposed to the explosion caused from a grenade attack. The
longer you hold the shoot button the further the Molotov will be thrown.

Grenade

Take out cars instantly with one thrown grenade. Does not explode on contact (as
with the Molotov’s fire) so be careful of bounce back. The longer you hold the shoot
button the further the grenade will be thrown.

AK47

A deadly accurate rifle and just as powerful at long distances. You cannot run and
shoot with this weapon.

M16

This is a very powerful rapid-fire weapon, one that has an optional sight mode. You
cannot run with this weapon while firing and the recoil will make aiming a practiced
skill. Once you master the M16, victims beware! This gun will take a vehicle out in
seconds. Use short firing bursts to conserves ammo when targeting humans.

Sniper Rifle

Get one shot kills (headshots) using the zooming scope on this precision rifle. You
cannot move and shoot at the same time with this weapon –a safety lock on the
trigger engages whenever you have the weapon selected while not using the scope.

Flame Thrower

This weapon uses burning fuel to cook anything in its range. Make sure not to burn
yourself in the process. As a safety precaution, you can’t run and fire this weapon.

Rocket Launcher

The rocket launcher launches rockets… no duh, huh?! This weapon also has a safety
lock on the trigger so you won’t have a misfire when not in sight mode. Do not fire
at object any where close to you, the concussion will either kill you or take most
of your health.

WALKTHROUGH

PORTLAND:

GIVE ME LIBERTY

Job Details:
Find Safehouse
Change clothes
Take 8-Ball to Luigi’s
Face the Sentinel on the bridge and press the Triangle button to enter. Follow the
red icon on the radar in the lower left corner of the screen and stop inside of the
blue marker in the safehouse alleyway. After a change of clothes, reenter the
Sentinel and follow the icon on the radar to the blue marker just outside of Luigi’s
Sex Club 7.

LUIGI GOTERELLI

Job Details
Steal a car
Pick up Misty
Drive her back to Luigi’s club

Steal the nearest car –there are many taxis nearby- and follow the green icon on the
radar to Misty who awaits you at the entrance of Sweeney General Hospital. Stop the
car besides her; consequentially she’ll enter the vehicle. Take Misty back to
Luigi’s to complete the mission.

After completing this job for Luigi, the letter ‘L’ will appear on the radar. This
represents Luigi and his availability to give you more work. This letter will remain
on the radar until you have exhausted Luigi of jobs. To take a job from Luigi you
must enter the blue marker in the alley of his club on foot.

Drive Misty for Me

Job Details
Pick up Misty from Hepburn Height
Drive her to Joey Leone’s garage in Trenton.

Reenter the marker in the alley of the Sex Club 7 to take another job from Luigi
Goterelli. Steal a car and follow the icon on the radar to the Tower’s parking lot
in Hepburn Heights where Misty will be seen waiting. Press the L3button to honk the
vehicle’s horn. Once she’s in the car head towards the new icon on the radar. In
Trenton, you’ll find Joey’s Garage, stop in the marker and in a cinematic, Misty
will reunite with Joey inside his garage.

Joey tells you that when you return he’ll be able to get you more work. For now,
we’ll stick with the Luigi jobs and come back to Joey later. As you leave Joey’s
you’ll hear the phone outside of the Bitch ‘n’ Dog Food Factory ringing. Pick up the
phone and you’ll begin the Marty Chonks missions, but again, for now we’ll stick
with Luigi.

Pump Action Pimp

Job Details
Get the gun from AmmuNation gun shop
Kill the pimp who’s occupying Luigi’s turf

Steal a car and drive to Saint Marks’ AmmuNation represented by the green gun icon
on the radar. Inside the shop are two out of stock gun selections but behind the
shop in the alley is a free gun ready for the taking. Later you will receive
messages when guns will be available for purchase at AmmuNation. Once in the back
alley you can perform target practice on the paper targets on the far wall. Shooting
guns will attract authority so keep the practice to a minimum.

Catch up with the pimp’s car (red radar icon) in your stolen vehicle. There are many
ways to complete the objective to kill the pimp –and his driver. You need only to
kill the occupants of the vehicle so this opens a world of possibilities.

What you’re up against:

The pimp and his driver are very evasive
They’ll retaliate in their vehicle or out of their vehicle (Diablo Stallion)
They will not exit the Stallion until significant harm is done to it
Both occupants may get out if their life is in danger in the vehicle (if it is
overturned or on verge of blowing up). In this scenario they’ll attack as a team
The Pimp is packing a pump action Shotgun, his driver holds an Uzi
Suggestions:

Trap the car and enter the driver’s side of the Stallion thus throwing the driver
out. Take the car away from the pursing driver or any cops and exit the vehicle only
to reenter the passenger’s side throwing the pimp out (You’re safe inside the
Stallion with the pimp –he cannot hurt you inside the vehicle). Exit the vehicle
again and shoot the pimp while continually moving to avoid his shotgun attack.
Locate the driver (who may have entered another vehicle in pursuit) and kill him in
a similar fashion.

While in pursuit of the Stallion you could also ram it and try to turn it over or
trap the occupants inside and then destroy the vehicle with them inside. This can be
done with various weapons pick-ups found around the map (flamethrower atop the Head
Radio Station or Molotov Cocktails found in the tramp’s tunnel near 8-Ball’s garage)
or by using your smoking vehicle as a bomb that will eventually blow up and take out
their Stallion as well (if its close enough). When this mission ends in your favor,
the pistol will be available for purchase at AmmuNation.

GTA3 Tester’s Tip
Tester: Mike Hong

Continually ram the Diablo Stallion until the driver and the pimp bail out. Once out
of the car, run them over with your own vehicle!

The Fuzz Ball

Job Details
Take 8 of Luigi’s call girls to the policeman’s ball (4 required to pass the
mission) in the time allotted.

Scattered throughout Portland are 8 of Luigi’s girls who await you to escort them to
the policeman’s ball near the Callahan Bridge. To pass the mission you only need to
deliver 4 girls in five minutes, but for each girl delivered to the ball you’ll
receive $500 giving you incentive to exceed the minimum amount of deliveries
required.

Use a car with four doors to pick up three girls at a time. Find a route that does
not require you to backtrack. Once you deliver the first three girls you’ll find
available police cars in the parking lot of the ball. Make sure not to run over the
girls, if you do run over any, you’ll fail the mission. Keep an eye on the clock,
remember that you only have 5 minutes to deliver the girls.

Job Details
Within 5 minutes, steal Lips Forelli’s car from the bistro, rig it with a bomb and
return it to the same parking space at the Bistro.

Find a fast sports car and Return to Joey’s Garage between six o’clock in the A.M.
and nine o’clock P.M. to pick up your first job from Joey Leone. As soon as you take
the mission and exit the garage the five-minute clock begins to countdown to end the
mission. If everything is not ready to go in 5 minutes, Lips will finish eating and
the mission will end unsuccessfully.

Follow the icon on the radar to Marco’s Bistro, enter the car with the blue arrow
over it and drive it to 8-Ball’s auto-yard. 8-Ball’s garage is indicated on the
radar. If Lip’s Idaho is destroyed, the mission will be failed. Lips Forelli can
spot the smallest scratch or ding on the Idaho so, be very careful. If you mess it
up you’ll have to pay $1000 at Pay ‘n’ Spray within the time allotted so Lips will
not notice the damage. If he does notice damage, the mission will be failed.

After rigging the bomb onto the car inside of 8-Ball’s garage, drive carefully back
to the Bistro (or the Pay ‘n’ Spray if need be) and park it in the exact same space
that you stole it from. You must also park perfectly straight or Lips will notice
something’s up.

When all these parameters are met and time is remaining on the clock, Lips will exit
the building, enter his car and become Forelli soufflé.

Farewell ‘Chunky’ Lee Chong

Job Details
Take out Chunky Lee Chong

IF you need a gun, head to AmmuNation. If not carry on.

Follow the green icon on the radar to the area blocked off to cars in Chinatown. It
is here that you’ll find Chunky Lee Chong in his Spank stand in the market area of
Chinatown.

Target the two Triad gang members on either side of the stand holding baseball bats
and the third that will rush wielding a piece. Use the targeting buttons to pick and
choose the largest threat first and then target those further away or with clubbing
weapons.

Quickly Steal a car and chase the fleeing Chong who has already entered a getaway
car. Make sure to keep close to the getaway car. If you lag too far behind you risk
losing the mission. Do whatever it takes to stop his vehicle and eject him or
destroy the vehicle with him still in it. If Chunky finds himself jammed and not
able to move his vehicle, he will flee on foot. If this happens, run him over or get
out and shoot him.

Van Heist

Job Details
Evict the driver from the Securicar
Deliver Securicar to warehouse in Portland Docks

Steal a car and follow the red icon on the radar –this direct you to the Securicar.
Ram the Securicar until the Blue Damage Meter on the screen is filled. This may take
out a few of your vehicles being that the Securicar is very heavily armored.
Firearms do not damage the Securicar… it’s bulletproof.

When the driver bails out, enter the Securicar and drive it to the location
indicated by the icon on the radar. Enter the garage and exit the Securicar and the
garage. After making this delivery, El Burro will page you for work, but for
organization sake, remain on task with Joey’s jobs.

Cipriani’s Chauffeur

Job Details
Drive Toni to Mamma Cipriani’s restaurant in St Mark’s.

Without wrecking the car, drive Toni to Chinatown while following the radar icon.
Stop in the blue marker outside Mr. Wongs storefront. When Toni returns to the car
screaming, "Triad Ambush," drive him quickly to the blue marker in the Cipriani
Restaurant’s driveway in Saint Mark’s. Loose any Wanted level or police pursuers.
After the mission, Tony will invite you over to help in his delema. But for now, we
will stick with Joey’s work. Also, upon completion of this mission the Uzi will be
available for purchase at AmmuNation.

Dead Skunk In The Trunk

Job Details
Take the car packed with a Forelli body in the trunk from Greasy Joe’s diner to the
Harwood car crusher.

Follow the direction indicated by the red icon on the radar to Greasy Joe’s located
in Callahan Point. Take the Manana with the blue arrow over it from the diner’s
parking lot. The Forelli brothers, in another car on the lot, will make chase as
soon as you enter the Manna.

As you avoid the advances of the Forelli brothers, follow the icon the radar to the
Harwood crusher. Stop the Manana inside the marker in front of the crusher and exit
the vehicle. As the crusher takes the vehicle, be on the lookout for your pursuers.
Take the nearby Pony (van) for a getaway or pursuit, engage in a shootout and kill
the surviving brothers if they threaten your life before the Manna is crushed.

GTA3 Tester’s Tip
Tester: Adam Davidson

Destroy the Forelli's vehicle (with them inside) before triggering the chase!

The Getaway

Job Details
Take a car to a safehouse in Saint Mark’s
Pick up friends of Joey’s and take them to the bank
Return the robbers to the safehouse with no Police on your tail

Steal a fast four-door vehicle (a Mafia Sentinel works well). Follow the radar to
the marker in Saint Mark’s and honk the horn. After the men enter the vehicle,
follow the radar to the bank in Chinatown. Stop in the marker to allow the men out
and when they return from the robbery, burn rubber! You’ll be granted a Wanted level
3! Enter the Pay ‘n’ Spray to lose this large Wanted level and then follow the radar
back to the blue marker at the safehouse where you picked the boys up.

Toni Cipriani

Taking Out The Laundry
Job Details
Destroy Mr Wongs’ laundry vans and any Triads who get in the way of your objective

Follow the three red icons on the radar to locate Mr Wong’s laundry vans. Toni
suggests going to 8-Balls for some grenades, which is not a bad idea. You don’t need
the grenades to complete the mission, but it’s not bad to add them to your
collection. Again, there is more than one way to destroy a vehicle in GTA3 and there
is no limitations put on the Laundry Vans’ destruction.

Suggestions:

Throwing grenades at the vans to destroy them is actually the most difficult way to
destroy them since they are so evasive. Try shooting at them with various arms or
try overtaking the vehicles and then throw the drivers out to take control of the
vans. From there you have many options as you may have already experienced ways to
destroy your own vehicles. Turn them over, run them into walls and bail out, take
them to the crusher, park them at the edge of the water in Portland Beach so the
water carries them off. You can push them with another vehicle off the docks or off
one of the ships, you can rig them with bombs from 8-Ball’s shop. The sky’s the
limit!

The Pick-up

Job Details
Collect payment from Wong’s laundry
Be on the lookout for a Triad ambush

Following the blue radar icon to Mr Wongs laundry will direct you to the loading
area in the alley behind the laundry. When you take the briefcase with the blue
arrow over it a Triad ambush will commence. The best thing to do is to quickly
reenter the vehicle and begin running over the Triads as they come at you from the
three different alleyways connected to this loading are. Use the rearview as you
back up and over the Triads. Remain in the alleys until all the Triads on foot have
been squished! The remaining Triad is located in a large Belly Up truck just outside
of the alleyway opposite the laundry. Get out of your vehicle, throw him out of the
truck, exit the truck and shoot him. Complete the mission by delivering the money to
Toni at the restaurant.

Salvatore’s Called a Meeting

Job Details
Collect the limo and Joey from the garage, then Luigi from his club and return to
the restaurant to pick up Toni
Drive all boss’s to Salvatore’s mansion

Follow the radar icon to Joey’s garage and stop in the marker to pick up the limo
and Joey himself. Follow the radar to Luigi’s club, stop in the marker and pick up
Luigi by honking the horn on the limo. Follow the radar back Saint Mark’s and Toni’s
Restaurant. When you stop and sound the horn in the marker, Toni will enter the limo
and another ambush will take place. Triad Laundry vans will appear from almost every
direction and slam into the limo until it explodes! To avoid this confrontation in
front of the restaurant, park the limo so that the hood of the limo faces away from
the restaurant and towards the alleyway across the street. When Tony enters the car,
race through the alley and make your way to Salvatore’s following the icon on the
radar. If the limo is destroyed along with the bosses, the mission fails.

Run over the Triad standing on the right side of the dual van blockade in
Salvatore’s driveway. This space between van and trees will allow you access to the
long driveway behind the blockade. If you make it into Salvatore’s garage the
mission is a success.

Salvatore will now offer you work. You must take him up on the offer since the rest
of the bosses are busy in the meeting.

Drive Maria around Portland while she looks for a pusher
Take Maria to a party in the Atlantic Quays
After the rave raid, take her back to Salvatore

Drive the limo from Salvatore’s mansion to the El Train Station in Chinatown to meet
the pusher. Stop into the blue marker to let Maria out to talk with the pusher.
After the deal has been made and the party has been located drive Maria to Atlantic
Quays (follow the radar to the correct building with the blue marker out front).

Before you stop in the blue marker, turn the limo around so that the back is facing
the distant water. This mission is similar to the last in that the positioning of
the limo when you park is vital to your escape.

When the cops arrive and Maria is running to the car, take off as soon as her foots
in the limo and burn rubber through the crowd to the street and in the direction of
Salvatore’s place (follow the radar). A Wanted level 2 is initiated and many police
will be in pursuit, quickly drive into Salvatore’s garage to end the mission
successfully.

Toni Cipriani

Triads and Tribulations
Job Details
Take a few of Toni’s men to the fish market or the fish factory to take out the
Triad Warlords and any soldiers that interfere.

Allow Toni’s two men dressed in black to follow you into a car and then drive to the
designated areas on the radar (green icons). These two men will fight with you if
you exit the vehicle. Make sure not to kill them yourself. They are yours until
death do you part. The Chinatown Warlord and soldiers are easily taken out by
running over them in your vehicle but be aware that there are so many to kill that
the cops will probably be alerted. So, to complete the objective you need only take
out the Warlord (the one with a blue arrow overhead). Collect weapons from fallen
victims and then Steal a Belly-Up truck (there is one parked in the lot or plenty
driving around this block).

There is another Warlord in Chinatown hanging out in the Chinatown market area (area
blocked off to vehicles). Get out of the truck and gun this guy down and then
reenter the truck and head to Callahan Point.

Follow the Callahan Point green radar icon off of the main road and onto a dirt path
that leads to the Turtle Head Fishing warehouse’s front security gate. The gate only
opens for the Belly-Up truck. Enter the parking lot and drive around the building
while running over the Warlord and his soldiers.

Pick up the Trashmaster from 8-Ball
Take the sensitive Trashmaster to the fish factory
Park between the gas canisters and set the bomb

Follow the red icon on the radar to the tracks besides 8-Ball’s auto yard. Step
inside the vehicle and the clock will start ticking. You have 2 minutes and 30
seconds to complete the mission.

The slightest bump can set off the bomb inside the Trashmaster so drive with caution
but be quick –the clock is ticking. Take the quickest route to Callahan Point.

Follow the radar icon through the Turtle Head Fish Factory’s security gate and to
the backside of the warehouse into the marker. Press the Circle button before
exiting the vehicle or allow the two-minute timer to run out and the bomb will
explode taking the propane tanks and the warehouse with it

Cutting the Grass
Job Details
Follow Curly Bob to see if he’s rattin’ us out
If he’s talking… kill him

Salvatore always has a few Mafia Sentinels parked near his garages. Borrow one and
head to Luigi’s club in the Red Light District. Park far enough away from the club
entrance to see Curly exit and enter a cab but not close enough that he’ll see you.
You cannot take the cabbie out and drive Curly yourself! Good try though.

The Spookometer will appear onscreen when the cab takes to the streets and the idea
is not to spook Curly Bob. Don’t allow this meter to fill up –this would mean that
he has been spooked and the mission will end unsuccessfully. However, drive close
enough to the cab so you don’t loose sight of Curly.

Following Curly to the Portland Docks will trigger a cinematic showing him talk with
Catalina and Miguel of the Colombian Cartel. So, Curly Bob is talking… so you must
kill him. Locate Curly within the docks using the radar once again and run him over
with your car or jump out and kill him Mafia style.

Bomb Da Base Act I

Job Details
Go and see 8-Ball to purchase explosives
Destroy the floating SPANK factory

Borrow one of Salvatore’s Mafia Sentinels once more and as long as you have $50,000
go see 8-Ball if you don’t have the money, pick up some side jobs (take taxi
missions, police vigilante missions or fire truck or ambulance missions. See Marty
Chonks, find the Toyz van or play the Patriot Playground or find more hidden
packages or attempt some insane jumps and stunts. There are tons of ways to make
money in Liberty City –if your dishonest) Head to the back of 8-Balls auto yard and
you’ll see the marker near his backdoor. If you have the money he’ll hand you a
Sniper Rifle and you’ll be on your way. If you don’t have the money, you must earn
some and return when you do.

Bomb Da Base Act II

8-Ball turns over a sniper rifle to you and he takes the explosives. 8-Ball will
follow you in and out of every vehicle you take as you make your way to Portland
Docks.

When you stop inside the blue marker near the Portland docks 8-Ball hops out and
tells you to find a good vantage point to cover him from as he sprints onto the boat
to position the explosives. He’ll move as soon as you fire the first shot.

Head towards the Les Cargo ship and take the stairs to the first landing of the
warehouse facing the ship. Press the R1 button to target the Cartel while using the
Square button to zoom in and the X button to zoom out. You have 30 rounds of ammo,
which is more than enough. You can’t afford to miss too many shots or 8-Ball will
get tagged!

There are a total of 12 Colombian Cartel to pop, 2 on the docks near the ship ramp,
which should be taken out first and then 10 on the actual ship. Work your way
through the men starting from the left to the right since 8-Ball will approach the
ones on the left first, after the first shot is fired. Keep your up and down aiming
static and move left to right after you have targeted the first few heads.

After all Cartels are dead, 8-Ball plants the bomb and escapes just in time to save
himself from the sinking ship.

GTA3 Tester Tip
Tester: Rich Huie

Rich suggest standing at the corner of the large warehouse closest to the boat to
pop all the Colombian Cartels who threaten to take 8-Ball’s life.

Last Requests

Job Details
Pick up the brain splattered car and take it to the crusher

When you near the sports car behind Luigi’s you receive a page from Maria who warns
you that this Salvatore job is a set up and to come see her at the Callahan Point
through the tunnel near the Callahan Bridge. Follow the icon on the radar to find
Maria.

Stop your car on the blue marker at the slip and a cinematic will begin. Maria
invited her friend, Asuka, along to assist the two of you. When the cinematic ends
you’ll find the party aboard the Reefer, this boat is controlled amazingly similar
to driving a car. Pressing the Triangle button will cause you to step away from the
controls onboard but not exit the boat (that would be bad since you can’t swim).

Command the Reefer to the icon on the radar and to the blue marker near the docks in
Staunton Island across the bay. Once you exit the boat, Asuka suggests you find a
place to lie low (she’s referring to your Savehouse. Look on the radar for the house
icon in Belleville and save your progress here as soon as the mission ends).

Staunton Island

You have now reached the second map, Staunton Island. Take a few minutes to cruise
around the roads and familiarize yourself with the new area. Find the quickest route
from Asuka’s condo to the Callahan Bridge before taking the next mission. Now, all
the methods of traveling between Portland and Staunton Island are accessible. The
Callahan Bridge has been repaired, the tunnel is open and the Subway is running.

If you are ready to move on with the missions in Staunton Island then skip past the
Portland Extra Missions that follow. If you would like to complete all the missions
in Portland before moving on then continue to follow the guide as is.

Staunton Island
Asuka Kasen

Sayonara Salvatore
Job Description
Salvatore will be leaving Luigi’s Sex Club 7 in three hours. Make sure that he does
not make it home alive.

What you’re up against:
You only have 3 hours to get to into position in Portland before Salvatore leave’s
Luigi’s Club in the Red Light District. If you get to close to the club you will be
severely attacked by the Mafia. When Salvatore enters his car, two more Mafia
Sentinels full of men will aid him. They will try to keep you away from Salvatore’s
car. There are so many ways to complete this objective and I suggest you try
different methods if one isn’t working so well for you.

Suggestions:
Use powerful weapons that can be found in certain locations around Liberty City to
take out the car. Use the flamethrower from the top of the radio station; use a
sniper rifle at a great distance to pop Salvatore before he enters the car from the
club. Set a roadblock of Mafia Sentinels in front of Salvatore’s garage door (this
is where the mission ends unsuccessfully if he enters safely). Block him from
entering the garage and destroy his vehicle with grenades, Molotov Cocktails, the
flamethrower or by whatever means you can dream up. But a ramming car chase is just
about futile.

GTA3 Tester’s Tip
Tester: Mel Vega

If you’re going to snipe Salvatore before he enters the Mafia Sentinel then gain
access to the rooftop of the building across the street from Luigi’s Sex Club to
keep away from the Mafia guards and to set up an excellent shot opportunity –
Salvatore’s noggin!

Paparazzi Purge

Job Description
Cap the journalist who’s camped out in a boat on the bay.

Head to the docks south of Asuka’s condo and press the Triangle button to enter the
police boat as you stand facing it. The Circle Button will fire the boat’s guns, but
keep in mind that these guns can overheat and will pause to cool down. Chase the
reporter’s boat while following close enough to get a clear shot at the boat. Try to
get into a position where you can shoot the side of the boat –this is a wider
target. The reporter’s speedboat is a little quicker than yours so don’t let him get
away. When the damage meter fills, the reporter’s boat will explode thus ending the
mission successfully.

Under Surveillance

Job Description
Take out the spying Mafia

You are given 6 min and 30 sec to drop 9 Mafia men. If you don’t have the Sniper
Rifle, get one from AmmuNation Gun Shop (follow radar). Grab some grenades while
you’re there.

In Belleville Park and take a position far enough from the small island in the pond
that the 2 Mafia men can’t see you or get a true shot at you. Use the sniper rifle
and aim for the melons. Drive to Bedford Point and toss a grenade at the Mafia’s van
(located on radar). When you take this van out many police will begin pursuit, so
quickly reenter your vehicle and head to Torrington.

Use the stairs to climb to the helicopter pad on the top of Kenji’s Casino. There
are 7 Mafia men on the opposite building. Use the Sniper Rifle to pop the Mafia men
on the different balconies on different floors. Start with the top and work your way
down. Expect return fire but don’t let that rush your aim, they carry Uzi’s and at
this distance they are not too accurate. When the last one is down and there is time
left on the clock you will pass the mission.

Payday For Ray

Job Description
Quickly get to the pay phones and wait for further instructions.
Meet and pay Asuka’s contact inside the LPD

You are given 3 min and 30 sec to answer 4 phones before Ray will meet with you. Use
Asuka’s Yakuza to race from phone booth to phone booth –you’re going to need a very
fast car. Follow the color cooridinated lines on the map for the quickest route to
the booths.

Phone Booth #1: Torrington (red route on map)

Phone Booth #2: Belleville Park (follow green route on map)

When leaving the first phone, head back north along the same route until you
intersect the green route on map.

Phone Booth #3: Liberty Campus (Follow yellow route on map)

From the second phone, exit the road that leads to the bridge to Shoreside Vale and
run down the embankment to the lower road that runs past the park.

Phone Booth #4: Belleville Park (Follow the blue route on map to the campus)

When leaving the campus, follow the yellow route back towards the south and then
pick up the blue route where they connect on the map.

When you answer the fourth phone the clock will stop the countdown and Ray Machowski
will ask you to meet him in the park. Follow the radar to the blue marker in front
of the underground bathrooms in Belleville Park. After this mission you can take
jobs from Ray by returning to this location… but for now, stick to the guide and
finish out Asuka’s job offers.

building and perimeter to enter the courtyard in front of the garages if the gate
won’t open for you. Take the Barracks OL and drive it to the blue marker in front of
Kenji’s Casino. When Tanner exits the building and enters a getaway car, chase him
down and ram him. An automatic Wanted level 5 is given as you approach him, this
means all hell brakes loose. You need to take out Tanner before his associates take
you out. Tanner repeatedly drives down the same roads. Learn his route and play
chicken with your heavy truck against his Eldorado. The Eldorado is no match!

Job Description
Steal a police vehicle

Break the Kanbu out of custody
Drive the Kanbu to the dojo in Bedford Point.

Stealing an Occupied Police Vehicle:

Drive around a while and you’ll be sure to find a police car in a short amount of
time. You can try to get the cop to exit the vehicle first by ramming his car with
yours and then shooting or entering the policeman before entering the police car.
You can just pull on the passenger side door to kick the cop out and then burn
rubber before he pulls you out. No matter what you choose to do, it’ll give you a
Wanted level of 1… so get out of the area quickly.

Follow the radar to 8-Ball’s garage and drive INTO the garage to rig a bomb to the
car –the blue marker just points you in the direction of the garage.

Follow the radar to the police station’s blue marker near the wall in the back
parking lot. Set the bomb with the Circle button, run from the vehicle to the Police
Enforcer truck and return to the blast hole in the wall and pick up the Kanbu. You
will have a wanted level of two after driving through the bribe in the alleyway on
the way to the streets from the police parking lot. This will make the helicopter go
away. Switch vehicles (the Kanbu will follow) and take the car to the Pay ‘n’ Spray
and then follow the radar (pink icon) to the dojo and drop off the ex-con into the
blue marker in a Bedford Point alley.

dent. The said list is actually not a list but red icons on the radar. You are
allowed 6 min to collect the cars with no bonus time added for anything you do. Make
sure that you don’t loose time following the wrong radar icon. The red icons are the
cars you need to pick up and the pink icon is the delivery garage.

The quickest route from the Casino to the three pick up and deliveries is as
follows. The Bedford Point Stinger to the Pay ‘n’ Spray or the delivery Garage. Take
the van from the nearby alleyway garage. Speed to the Cheetah in Rockford and jump
the hospital curb to save time going around to the entrance of the parking lot.

a Diablo, but simply running into him will take him out and allow you to exit the
car to pick up the briefcase. Drive to the missing briefcase in Belleville Park in
front of Uncle BJ’s. A cinematic will begin as you arrive depicting Uncle BJ
screaming about thugs stealing his payment… the Diablo’s! Follow the blue icon on
the radar to Portland (Hepburn Heights to be exact). There you’ll discover a gang of
Diablos in the parking lot where you talk to El Burro on the phone. You should use a
heavy (for armor purposes) vehicle and run over them or use the flamethrower up

see a Yardie death counter below your on-screen Wanted level. The dealers are
indicated on the radar as green icons. You do not have to perform these executions
in any particular order and all of the dealers can easily be run over while
remaining in your car. There are 3 Yardie dealers in Bedford Point, 2 around and 1
actually in Belleville Park, and 2 in the Aspatria area. When you complete this
mission for Kenji, he’ll not be offering anymore work, so visit Ray in the park
bathrooms.

Silence The Sneak

Job Description
Torch the sneak's apartment
Hunt down the sneak and kill him

Locate the apartment in question using the radar. Throw a grenade, Molotov or shoot
a rocket into the window that was shown in the quick cinematic. The sneak will be
driven out of the garage below the window and take off through the closest alley and
out into the street. If McAffey reaches the street the mission will become harder to
complete and a Wanted level 2 will be sounded.

Suggestions:

Block the alleyway that McAffey’s driver cuts through every time this mission is
played. Use the car you drove up in and any other car in the area garages or street.
Block the alleyway so well that the car cannot possibly escape the area then throw a
grenade or Molotov at the car.

GTA3 Tester’s Tip
Tester: Haklin Ng

Park a car just outside the garage door to impede the sneak’s escape, and then
quickly toss a grenade as the sneaks tries to get away.

perimeter wall behind you and beside the garage. Jump from crate to crate to reach
the top of the wall. Walk the wall to the storage containers. Jump to the container
with the Rocket Launcher hovering above it. Select the Rocket and take aim with the
R1 button to the entrance of the compound. Take out the Colombian Vehicles as they
pull up outside the security gate. If any Cartel escape the vehicles, pick them off
at a distance with the Rockets. Use a more conventional weapon if they appear closer
or come around the backside of the nearby garage. When all is still, go see how Phil
is and the mission will end successfully if he remains alive. Return to Phil’s Army
Surplus to buy M16, shotgun and rocket launcher. The tank is not available unless

The witness from Ray mission 1 has managed to survive. He will be transferred from
hospital to the courthouse in an ambulance
Damage the ambulance enough so that the body cast falls out.

The damage meter on screen indicates the damage that needs to be dealt to the
witness in an ambulance in full a body cast. The red icon on the radar tracks the
ambulance’s movements. If the ambulance arrives at the hospital you’ll miss your
opportunity to stop the witness and the mission will end in failure. Police protect
the witness and when you attack a wanted level 2 will be activated when the body is
ejected the wanted level is raised to 3 so keep moving!

Hit the ambulance rather hard and the witness will pop out onto the street through
the back doors. The only way to destroy the fire-bullet-proof cast is to drive over
it repetitively (or less often with a heavy vehicle) or to explode things above it.
Park a smoking car over the cast and explode the vehicle.

drive-by style with the Uzi. You have to be in the car and you cannot run over them
to make the kill count –it has to be a drive-by shooting! Drive quickly to find them
and then slow down once you find a Nine and use the forward and reverse vehicle
controls to aim while pressing L2 or R2 to aim from side to side. Once you make a
kill, quickly move on to the next. The Nines will fire back so watch out for groups

Toyminator

Destroy three Securicars.
The Securicars are heavily armored but have weaker armor on the underside
Use RC cars that are loaded with explosives to take them out

take them too far away (Out of the level that they were created in).

Follow the red icon on the radar to the apartments in Wichita Gardens. Find and
enter the Toyz van parked near some garages. This mission is very similar to the
other RC Toyz challenges. The difference is you now have a limited number of RC
cars. You have 4 RC cars to use to destroy 3 Securicars; you can mess up once and
still complete the mission. The RC cars control as all others have in the past –just
like any other vehicle. Use the circle button to detonate or run into the
Securicars’ tires. Follow the icons on the radar to track down the Securicars.

Rigged to Blow

Job Description
D-Ice’s favorite car has been rigged with explosives
Get the car and take it to a garage in St Marks to get it disarmed before the fuse
runs out. If the car takes too much damage it can explode. The car damage can be
reset if the car is taken to the repair shop.
Return vehicle back to D-Ice undamaged

You are given 6 minutes to unarm the bomb in D-Ice’s car. Follow the red icon on the
radar to the Infernus in a Wichita Gardens parking lot. The detonation gage on
screen will show how close the bomb comes to going off when you hit bumps and take
damage. Follow the red icon on the radar to the garage in Saint Marks. The best
route to take is through the tunnel located on the lower street in Wichita Gardens
very close to where you found the vehicle. Switch to first person view, once in the
tunnel, to avoid traffic and medians that will cause you damage. To get to Harwood
in Portland, don’t turn at any of the intersections within the tunnel. Take a left
into Saint Mark’s and follow the icon to the bomb-dismantling garage. Carefully
return the car to the same parking lot in Wichita Gardens after the bomb is
dismantled. If you ding the car, take it to the Pay ‘n’ Spray in Shoreside Vale and
then return the car to D-Ice. Once you deliver the car in good condition the mission
will end. Feel free to take his car afterward to answer the phone and take the next
job.

Bullion Run

Job Description
There is bullion scattered on the roads in Pike Creek
Get a vehicle and head to Pike Creek, the timer starts once the player is in a
vehicle
Collect 30 pieces of bullion before the timer runs out (6 mins)

drive)
Balance, picking up more bullion or dropping off the bullion you’ve collected and
losing time

Follow the pink icon on the radar to Pike Creek and drive through the pick-ups on
the surrounding streets (the pink icon on the radar is the garage where you unload
bullion). You’ll quickly notice that the more you pick up the heavier and harder to
control your vehicle becomes. Bullion is not counted until you deliver it to the
garage. The key to this mission is to have a car that is made for carrying heavy
loads such as the Colombian Cruisers, Vans, trucks etc. Once you have the right
vehicle you can make one large delivery and then one small one and be done with it.

Gardens. Get out of the car and his brother will follow and start beating on the
Nines with the bat. Keep hitting them when they’re down unless there is a more

security arm). The red icon will lead you to a green hangar. Pull around to the
front of the open hangar and you’ll see a van pull away. Park a fair distance from
the open hangar doors and use a sniper rifle to clear out the riff-raff. Aim for
explosive barrels to speed up the job. Enter the Dodo in the hangar and you’ll
discover that the package is gone. Outside the hangar, inspect the black Pan-Lantic
van.

Head back to Staunton Island following the pink icon to the construction site in
Fort Staunton. Enter the construction site through the open gate on the east side.
Use the upper level of the tower closest to the blue walled structure as a vantage
point to snipe the Colombians within the blue walled area (after clearing the tower
of the inhabitant –of course). After sniping all you can snipe, infiltrate the blue
walled structure very carefully.

Head through the main entrance after sniping the ones in view and then take out the
remaining Colombian Cartel as you make your way to the elevator. The cinematic helps
put the pieces of the plot together. Once the cinematic ends you’ll see a Yakuza
Stinger and some guards near the construction site. Don’t fear them, they’re on your
side; take the car and head to Donald Love’s. Follow the pink icon to the
underground garage to end the mission.

Escort Service

Job Description
Escort the OOG and the package retrieved in Grand Theft Aero to a warehouse in
Shoreside Vale.
The Cartel will attack the vehicle and if it’s destroyed the mission is failed

Use a Flatbed truck or the Barracks OL to run beside the Securicar. Drive near the
underground garage in the Love Media building and you’ll see Love’s associate in a
Securicar, pulling away to start the trip.

What you’re up against:

The Damage meter under your Wanted level is the Securicar’s health. Do not allow
this level to increase if you can help it.

The Securicar is slow and obeys traffic laws.

Colombian Cartel Cruisers and pedestrian Cartel will continuously attack the
Securicar along its route.

Suggestions:

Follow closely behind the Securicar and use the rearview mirror (L2 + R2) to spot
possible ambushes.

Use drive-by shooting when the Cartel are right next to you

Cut them off pursuers into oncoming traffic, buildings and any obstructions using
the review mirror as an aid.

Spin out vehicles as they pass in front of you.

Avoid exploding vehicles even if it means stopping and allowing the Securicar to
take damage. The Securicar is much more durable than any vehicle you can find to
escort it.

Be careful not to hit any police cars. You don’t need any more enemies now.

Your destination is the AMco structure in Shoreside Vale; once this is reached the
mission ends successfully.

GTA3 Tester’s Tip
Tester: Adam Davidson

Drive ahead of the Securicar and run over the Colombians that are on foot and
positioned on the side of the road. Use the drive-by Uzi to take out the Colombians
cruisers.

Decoy

Job Description
The warehouse with the OOG and the package has been surrounded by S.W.A.T. teams
Break out in the Securicar and keep the police busy for 3 minutes so the OOG can
escape
All this and a wanted level of six

Return to Pike Creek in Shoreside Vale to the AMco building. Enter the Securicar and
the 3 minute plight will begin.

What you’re up against:

The largest amount of police cars, Enforcers and helicopters you’ve seen thus far in
the game!

Relentless attacks upon the Securicar

A clock that seems to never stop!

If you don’t survive the three minutes or if you exit the vehicle for more than 14
seconds you will fail the mission

Suggestions:

Use the ramp in the parking lot to go over the wall. This will keep you from heading
out the exit that the cops expect you to use. Massive damage occurs through the main
exit.

Avoid driving uphill. This will slow you down and allow the authorities to catch up
and damage the vehicle.

Run around on the airport runways.

Drive into the tunnels that run under the bay to Staunton Island and Portland. This
keeps the helicopters out of the picture. It also keeps additional backup far out of
reach.

My favorite course of action to escape from the police is to head across the bridge
to Staunton Island!

Love’s Disappearance

The next time you return to Donald Love’s you’ll realize that he’s vanished. To find
clues on his disappearance, go to the construction site to see Asuka.

Bait
Job Description
Miguel has revealed that Catalina has flown in three death squads to hunt you down
Asuka suggests that you lure them into a kill zone manned by her own hitmen.
You may help kill a Death Squad once it has bailed out in the kill zone.

Steal a fast car and head to Shoreside Vale’s Pike Creek. There are four death
squads visible on the radar (pink icons), the yellow icon on the radar represents
the kill zone where you will lead the squads to be ambushed by Asuka’s men. If you
try to be a vigilante and take them out yourself anywhere but the kill zone you will
fail the mission –her men must help. However, there is a chance that a few men may
escape the kill zone on foot, if this happens you are able to hunt them down and
take ‘em out yourself. These escapees will appear as green icons on the radar.

If you get too far ahead of the persuers you risk the chance of losing them and they
will return to their original position eventually. There are squads at Cochrane Dam
at the end of the upper dam road. There’s a squad near the subway at the airport and
another in a driveway in the nice neighborhood of Cedar Grove. One at a time, lure
them to the parking lot in Pike Creek, swing the car around so that the side of your
car faces the center area where the death squad will stop and fire at them drive-by
style. When the squad is dead, take their weapons and head out for another victim.

Espresso-2-Go

Job Description
Miguel reveals that the Cartel is selling Spank through an Expresso franchise on
Liberty’s streets
The Player must wreck 9 stalls throughout Liberty
Timer will start once first stall is destroyed (8 mins to complete the mission)

The trick to beating this mission is having a swift yet heavy vehicle to race to and
knock down the Spank Stands. The Colombian Cruiser is the best vehicle to use but
others will do if you find yourself losing your vehicle to damage. Vans and other
large vehicles will work but they just won’t match the handling and speed of the
Colombian Cruiser.

The second most important thing to beating this mission is the order in which you
hit the stands. There is no particular order that you HAVE to hit them in but there
is an order that makes it easier to hit them all in the time allotted. Check out the
maps provided to discover the suggested order. Remember, when you hit the first
stand, the timer begins.

Start with the Stand in front of the Shoreside Vale Hostpital and then race to the
airport.
Fly up the stairs and smack into the Stand near the subway entrance at the airport.
Take the bridge to Staunton Island.
Head east past Belleville Park and into Newport near the white multilevel carpark.
Smash the stand in the commons area and head south down the angled street.
Smash the Credit Union Bank’s Stand in the recessed stair area near the star statue.
Head south to the waterfront street then north to reach the fifth stand.
Smash the stand next to a building in Bedford Point. After taking it down, head
north to the church.
The sixth stand sits in front of the church in Bedford Point. Smash it and head
north towards the park.
The 7th stand is in the actual park of Belleville Park. Smash the stand on the hill
and head east to the Callahan Bridge to enter Portland.
In Portland keep to the southeast roads until you reach the area across the street
from the Portland Docks in Portland Harbour. Smash it and head north.
Past Salvatore’s house in Saint Marks you’ll find the last stand just around the
corner of an apartment building in a small triangular parking lot. Smash it to
complete the mission.

S.A.M.

Job Description
Miguel reveals that every month a fresh shipment of Spank is flown into the freight
terminal at Francis international
Get a boat out to a runway light pontoon
Shoot down the aircraft
Collect the packages from the debris

You have 3 min and 30 sec to commandeer a fast boat and make it to the light pontoon
floating near the Francis International runways. If you miss the plane’s approach to
the runway you will fail the mission. You have only one shot at this. Following the
red radar icon to the boat docks on the western coast of Staunton you’ll find the
boat you need to complete the objectives. Near the boat hovers a rocket launcher
with very little ammo, take it and face the boat while hitting the Triangle button.
Now speed towards the light pontoon (blue icon on radar) and when you reach the
pontoon, press the Triangle button to release the boat controls and head out from
under the cockpit, select the rocket launcher, look to the east and locate the
Cessna. Take careful aim and shoot the plane as it nears the runway. When the debris
scatters in the water or on the runway itself, collect the floaters with the boat
and then dock it if you have to collect any packages that made it to land. Keep in
mind that after destroying the plane, a wanted level of 4 will be sounded. Use
whatever extra rockets you have to take out the police helicopter to buy time to
pick up more packages without being shot at. The helicopters are all that’ll reach
you in this remote area of Shoreside Vale. After collecting all 8 packages you must
bring the packages back to the construction yard to complete the mission.

Ransom

When you return to the construction site in Staunton Island you’ll find Asuka dead
and Miguel’s body has a note on it lifeless body. Catalina has Maria and if you want
her back you must bring her $500,000

Marked Man
Job Description
The CIA is making money from Cartel deals and is concerned that the Yakuza are
hindering the operation. They’ve discovered that Ray is helping them and they’ve
decided to ‘rub him out’.
Ray is running scared and needs a ride to the airport before his flight leaves.
Avoid the C.I.A on the way.
Ray will give you a large reward for his successful escape.

Return to the park bathrooms in Belleville Park to talk with Ray Machowski in the
underground restroom. Make sure to steal a fast car before entering the blue marker
to accept the mission. You have 3 min to drive Ray to the airport in Shoreside Vale
before his plane departs. The most natural route is cut off by the CIA -the bridge
is barricaded. The only route that makes sense for safety and speed sake is the
tunnel that runs under the bay to Shoreside Vale. So, from the park, head north to
Rockford and enter the tunnel to Shoreside Vale. Use first person view once inside
to avoid colliding with other vehicles. Follow the overhead signs to the airport (2
left turns). Follow the pink icon to the front of the airport (passanger drop-off
area) and stop in the blue marker. The mission is not over but the clock has
stopped. Ray enters the airport after telling you to head to the lock-up in Staunton
Island. Follow the pink icon on the radar to Newport and drive up to the garage.
Inside the lockup are a bulletproof Patriot, rocket launcher, sniper rifle, flame-
thrower and $20,000! These items only appear once. Take the Patriot to your
Savehouse and save your progress.

The Exchange
Job Description

Raise $500,000 for Catalina to replace the drugs that the player stole in Asuka’s
mission "S.A.M" or Maria will die

When you arrive at the Colombian Mansion they will frisk you and strip you of weapons

Catalina orders you to be killed then leaves, taking Maria with her as hostage

Escape the mansion while collecting as much firepower as you can

Follow the helicopter to find Catalina

Fight his way through goons toward Catalina at the dam

Catalina takes off in a ‘copter and shoots missiles at you

Fight your way to a weapon cache and use a rocket launcher or an M16 to shoot down

Catalina

Suggestions and Preparation:

Have full health and full armor before taking this mission

Pull up to the mansion with the bullet-proof patriot pointing north

Finding cool weapons is pointless. You will be stripped of weapons when you begin
the mission

Follow the ‘C’ icon on the radar to Cedar Grove to the Colombian mansion. As long as
you have $500,000 enter the blue marker at the gates of the swank mansion. Two
guards will take the briefcase and strip search you for any weapons. At this point
you will be weaponless. After handing over the money Catalina orders you dead. In
the cinematic, you knock the guard to the ground… from here the mission begins with
this guard on the ground and the first weapon available at his side. On the clock
there is seven minutes. This is the time you have to take out the helicopter at the
dam and not just the time you have to escape the mansion so move quickly.

Colombian Compound Escape:

Keep moving!

Pick up handgun from first guard and charge the two at the gate

Take the gate guards’ weapons and shoot the remaining grounds guard and take his Uzi

Use the Uzi on the two balcony guards

Find armor in the garage and leave the compound through the gate

The helicopter cinematic will begin

Race to the Dam:

Don’t follow the helicopter (red icon on radar) down the road it flies over.
Instead, take the quicker route to the dam along the north most road that bends
around the north side of the mansion

Find the M16 on the porch of the pink house two houses down from the back of the
mansion (be quick about it)

There’s a rocket launcher on the west end of the roof on the last house but you may
run out of time if you can’t get it quickly (jump on the mound on the east side of
the house and walk around the rooftop to the launcher).

The Dam Battle:

Exit your vehicle at the 1st dam roadblock and shoot both guards and take their
AK47’s. Take a cruiser if you don’t have the bullet proof patriot

Collect the Sniper Rifle near the mountain before the second roadblock

Shoot the Cruisers that make up the second roadblock to take out the two guards who
stand near them.

Use the M16 that you picked up from the second roadblock and use the sight to pick
off the guard on the crates ahead

Dash behind these crates and take out the guard near the explosive barrels to the
north

Take the weapon atop the crates you hide behind

Take out the guard on the first tower using the sniper rifle of the M16

Remain around the same crate area and take out the guard to the west near the
explosive barrels as he rushes you (shoot the barrels)

Use the first tower for a higher view for snipe shooting or using the M16 sights

Snipe shoot or use the M16 to shoot the guard on the second tower and the one on the
crates below. Shoot the guard on the ground near the stairs beyond the second tower.

As you approach the second tower, a truck will race towards you. Run up the stairs
of the second tower and use this vantage point to take out as many of the other
guards to the west as you can. Take the M16 power-up from the tower

Take cover behind objects, crates, corners when the missiles begin to fly from
Catalina’s helicopter

Take out the guard with the flamethrower between the crates below the helipad and
shoot the guy above him on the helipad deck

Climb the stairs and carefully shoot around Maria and clear the 3 guards on the
rooftop

Take the rocket launcher from the end of the helipad deck and take aim –you only
have two rockets- at Catalina’s helicopter in flight

Shoot down the helicopter and trigger the ending cinematic

ALTERNATIVE MISSIONS

Portland
El Burro

El Burro is the Diablo gang’s leader. Anytime after receiving El Burro’s page you
can head to Hepburn Heights while following the blue icon on the radar to the
Tower’s parking lot. There in the lot is a ringing phone… pick it up and take a job
from El Burro.
Turismo

Job Details
Steal a fast car and race the Diablo gang to the finish

Steal a Diablo Stallion (not necessary but a good idea) from any street around the
block where you answered the call from El Burro. Drive the Diablo Car to the icon on
the radar near the Callahan Bridge. Stop on the blue marker next to the waiting
Diablo Cars and wait for the 3-second countdown.

Wait a second after the race begins to avoid the mayhem that waits ahead. The other
Diablo Stallions will slam into each other as they race down the street. You should
avoid this barbarism and pass them as they try to recover.

While in the lead, watch the radar closely to find the nearest pink icon, this will
lead you to the next checkpoint marker. The lengthy course is comprised of 18
checkpoints including the one at the finish line just beyond the street where you
started the race. You need to come in first to win the race. If you mess up your car
too badly, quickly grab another while the race continues –this is legal in Diablo
racing. Try the Mafia Sentinel; this is a good match for Diablo Stallion.

I Scream, You Scream

Job Details
Retrieve El Burro’s bomb in Harwood
Carjack the ice-cream truck en route
Lure the Forelli gang to their doom

Follow the blue radar icon a block away from the phone to a location in Harwood
where you’ll see a blue arrow over a briefcase tucked in a corner of a small parking
lot. Pick up the briefcase that contains the bomb. Follow the red icon on the radar
to catch up to the "Mr Whoopee" ice-cream truck. Stop in front of the truck with
your car and carjack the ice-cream truck.

Follow the icon on the radar into the warehouse parking lot in Atlantic Quays (the
driveway is lined with orange construction cones). Park the van in the Blue marker
(use L3 to play the Mr. Whoopee jingle that will lure the Forelli’s) and exit the
truck. When the Forelli’s arrive, make sure you are a fair distance away from the
truck and press the Circle button to activate the bomb and blow the Forelli’s to
kingdom come. Make sure to hop on over there quick enough to take their weapons they
left behind.

Trial By Fire

Job Details
Find the flame-thrower and teach the Triad vandals to fear El Burro’s wrath.

Follow the radar gun icon to a Chinatown alley where you’ll find a flame-thrower.
You now have a weapon with unlimited ammo. This mission is somewhat similar to that
of a Rampage Challenge. Head out to the street with flame-thrower in hand and fry 30
Triads in the 3 minutes allotted. For the most Triad congestion, try heading to the
nearby basketball court. Collect as many weapons from the fallen victims when the
mission is complete. The biggest challenge in this mission is to not burn yourself
in the process. You cannot move around too much, as fire is flying at least not
towards flames that are still burning. Also, burning passersby’s can also ignite
yours truly.

Big ‘N’ Veiny

Job Details
Take El Burro’s van and collect the trail of magazines
Deliver the magazines to the XXX Magazine Store

Find El Burro’s Rumpo van parked near the parking lot you answered El Burro’s call
in. As you enter the vehicle the challenge begins with 20 seconds on the clock to
finish the course. Sound impossible?! Well, with each magazine driven through to
collect you are awarded with an additional second. This means you must drive this
wobbly van like it was a sports car. This will take a few runs to learn the course
and you must stay in line with the magazines to avoid losing valuable seconds.

Keep in mind that it is not necessary to pick up all of the magazines to complete
the mission, however, doing without a few will push you further away from the time
needed to finish the course.

The trail ends in the Portland Docks. When you reach the end of the trail you’ll see
El Burro’s stolen Rumpo (blue arrow above it) and the thug who stole it is standing
at the back of the van. Simply ram the back of van while he stands between the two
vehicles to take him out. DO NOT ENTER HIS VAN, his van is empty. You now have all
the mags.

Follow the pink radar icon to the Red Light District and deliver the magazines to
the back of XXX Magazine Store. Stop on the blue marker to end the mission.

Marty Chonks

Remember when you heard the phone ringing every time you visited Joey’s Garage in
Trenton? Well, go answer that phone on the next block from the garage and you will
be on the other end of a conversation with Marty Chonks, the owner of the Dog Food
Factory. Enter the security gate located down the block on the same side the phone
is on. Just walk up to the gate and it will open for you. Walk around to the back
and find the cars he leaves for you hidden behind a tractor-trailer.
The Crook

Job Details
Take Marty’s car to pick up the bank manager and bring him back to the Bitch ‘n’ Dog
Food Factory.
Ditch the car

Take the family-mobile from behind the trailer within the Dog Food Factory’s gates.
Follow the radar (green icon) to the Bank Manager standing outside the Chinatown
Bank of Liberty. Drive him back into the gates of the Dog Food Factory and stop in
the Blue marker to allow the banker out of the wagon. Marty takes care of the rest.

Now you must ditch the vehicle to hide the evidence. Follow the radar (pink icon) to
the Harwood crusher. Stop in marker near the crusher and get out of the wagon.
That’s it. Mission over. Car Crushed!

The Thieves

Job Details
Take Marty’s car to pick up double-crossing thieves from the Red Light District
Bring them back to Marty
Ditch the car

Enter Marty’s Sentinel -found in the usual spot- and follow the radar (green icon)
to the Red Light District. Pick up the two thieves and drive them back to the Dog
Food Factory. Drive and stop into the Blue marker and stop to let the boys out and
to meet their fate inside the factory. Ouch!

Take the Sentinel to the Pay ‘n’ Spray indicated on the radar (orange icon) and have
it painted. After spraying the car follow the radar (pink icon) to into the park in
Chinatown near the Callahan Bridge. Stop the car in marker to complete the mission.
Feel free to use these wheels afterward to head back to Marty’s.

The Wife

Job Details
Pick up Marty’s Esperanto from the usual place
Pick up Marty’s wife and drive her back to the factory
Ditch the Esperanto

Take Marty’s Esperanto from behind the tractor-trailor within the Dog Food Factory
compound. Follow the radar (green icon) to Classic Nails in the Red Light District.
Pick up Marty’s wife and follow the radar (pink icon) back to the Dog Food Factory.

After Marty knocks off his wife you are instructed to dump the car your driving into
the sea. There are many places this can be done and you may have already done this
with a different vehicle. If not, then head to Portland Beach between the apartments
near Salvatore’s pad and the shipyard. Drive the car onto the beach and put the
front tires in the water. Get out of the car and watch the car get swept out with
the waves and begin to sink. That’s it! Mission complete.

Her Lover

Job Details
Take Marty’s car to pick Carlos
Bring him back to the factory

You’ll find a Stallion in Marty’s usual vehicle hiding place. Follow the radar
(green icon) to Chinatown and stop to pick up the guy with the blue arrow over his
head standing outside the apartments. Take Marty’s late wife’s boyfriend back to the
factory. Once there you will finally get a glimpse of Marty, but hold on to that
memory. When the boyfriend leaves the vehicle he will have words with Marty and then
blast ‘em with a shotgun! There is nothing you can do to stop this event from
happening, so just collect your dough and pretend none of this ever happened. This
obviously ends the Marty Chonks missions.

Staunton Island
King Courtney

Job Interview

Job Description
To take a job from King Courtney (Yardie Leader), answer the payphone at Liberty
Campus near the coliseum.
Get more checkpoints than any of your rivals (3 rivals, 15 checkpoints)

There are 15 checkpoints peppered all over Staunton Island, and the first to a
checkpoint receives a $1,000! King Courtney tells you that if you get more
checkpoints then the other drivers he’ll give you some jobs. Similar to the Diablo
Stallion race back in Portland, except this is more of a collection game then a race
to the finish. Find a fast car, there are plenty throughout Staunton Island –nice
sports cars. If you are impatient then just grab something decent and close by. Once
you have your vehicle, enter the marker in front of the coliseum to start the race.
Jump the gun –King Courtney likes that! Since the other competitors have no idea
where each checkpoint will appear, they’ll be as lost as you so it’s a pretty fare
game. Just keep an eye on the radar to beat them to the prize. Once you’ve collected
more checkpoints then any other you win.

Uzi Rider

Job Description
Perform a drive-by or run over 5 Diablo’s
You must stay in the car

When the Yardies pull up in the Perennial they will hand you an Uzi and give you
control of the vehicle. Head to Hepburn Heights in Portland to the Tower’s parking
lot where you talked to El Burro on the phone to take his jobs. Drive along the
sidewalks and run down 5 Diablos or use the driveby skill and shoot them down. Take
the Perennial to the local Pay ‘n’ Spray or find the police bribes to loose the
wanted level. Cross the Callahan Bridge once more and return the Yardies to the
marker in Newport indicated on the radar.

Gangcar Round-up

Job Description
The Yardies like cars, especially hard-to-get cars. And they like them fast!
Steal and deliver a Mafia Sentinel, a Yakuza Stinger car and a Diablo Stallion

In no particular order, nab a Mafia Sentinel from Salvatore’s place in Portland, a
Yakuza Stinger from Staunton Island and a Diablo Stallion from Hepburn Heights
(Portland). Take these cars to the garage in Newport without any dings on them. If
you damage them, take them to the Staunton Island Pay ‘n’ Spray; it’s much closer to
the delivery garage (pink icon on radar).

Kingdom Come

Job Description
The Colombians have found out that their new allies (Yardies) have been employing
their enemy (you). So they have set up a trap for you. They’ve rigged up some
psychos with explosives.
Within the time limit, reach the car (trap)
As soon as you enter the car the psychos will run at you and detonate
The player must destroy the vans that generate the bombers

You have 1 min and 30 to reach the car in the parking lot (icon on radar). So, make
sure to have a very fast sports car waiting by the phone before you answer it to
take this mission. After a few trial runs you will quickly (and with use of the map)
find the quickest route with the least amount of turns and opposing traffic. Once
inside the car in the parking lot a suicide bomber rushes you. There are many ways
to complete this objective, one way is to get out of the vehicle and use run around
shooting the bombers and then the vans, then more bombers, then the remaining vans
etc…

You could also take the car and park it at the end of one of the three alleys and
force the closest bombers to attack by funneling through the long and narrow
alleyway. There are different vantage points around the parking lot from other
entrances and stairways that will allow you to even look down onto the parking lot
and take out the vans and finally the suicide bombers! Shooting the bombers when
they are near the vans will cause them to take the van out with them as they
explode. Using weapons with better range works better than those that don’t. Bad
weapons to use are the shotgun, flamethrower, grenades and molotovs. The rocket
launcher is difficult to use as well, since you have to use the site which will
allow someone to sneak up behind you and that’s not mentioning the blast that will
occur if the bomber is too close to you.

Exit the car while in the lot and Use the Uzi while continually moving to avoid the
suicide bombers’ advances.

RC Toyz

Casino Calamity

Job Description

In a Torrington parking lot west of the casino and across the street, is the parked
Toyz Van: Casino Calamity. Once entered you are given 2 min. to command the RC cars
into the tires or underneath as many Yakuza Stingers as you can manage. Press the
Circle button to detonate or run them right into the Yakuza Stingers’ tires. You’ll
take home $1,000 for each Stinger you destroy. Be very cautious with this challenge.
The RC cars are facing the Toyz van you’re inside of as they are deployed! Steer
away as soon as they appear, or use the reverse button to insure your safety.

4X4/Car Missions

4x4 1: A Ride in the Park

Job Description

Inside the actual park grounds of Belleville Park and near the small lodge you’ll
find the Landstalker 4x4. Enter it and the challenge: A Ride in the Park will begin.

You are given 2 min to collect 12 checkpoints in any order that you choose.

Clock begins to tick away as you pass through the first checkpoint.

Each checkpoint tagged awards 10 extra seconds of time to make it to the next
checkpoint until final one is passed through.

4x4 2: Multistory Mayhem

Job Description

First you must recognize what a Stallion is. Look for real world convertible (with
top up) mustang type vehicle. Next, take one of these cars from anywhere in Staunton
Island and then drive it to the big white multileveled carpark in Trenton. Exit the
Stallion and then reenter to trigger the beginning of the 4x4 Multi-Story Mayhem.

Collect the checkpoints in any order. That’s 20 seconds, plus 5 seconds for each

4 checkpoints on each level of the carpark.

The last checkpoint is hovering in the air beyond the roof-ramp on the top level.

Shoreside Vale
D-Ice

Uzi Money
Job Description
In Shoreside Vale’s Wichita Gardens you’ll hear a phone ringing from a booth on the
sidewalk. Answer it to take the D-Ice jobs
D-Ice wants you to kill some Purple Nines.
Kill 20 in 2 mins 30 secs.

Drive around the neighboring streets and shoot the Nines dressed in purple coats
drive-by style with the Uzi.
The Nines will fire back so watch out for groups
of Nines. They could quickly eliminate your vehicle. You can switch vehicles and
continue the mission. After knocking off 20 Nines you’ll complete the mission.

Toyminator

Job Description
Destroy three Securicars.
The Securicars are heavily armored but have weaker armor on the underside
Use RC cars that are loaded with explosives to take them out
Mission will fail if all 4 buggies are used and all 3 of the Securicars are not
destroyed.
The buggies will explode if they hit or vehicles tires or if the player tries to
take them too far away (Out of the level that they were created in).

The more bullion picked up the heavier the vehicle will get (making it harder to

Rumble

Job Description
The Nines have challenged the Jacks to a fight you are only allowed to use a
baseball bat
Pick up D-Ice’s Bro and then head to the fight and kill 9 Nines without getting iced
yourself
If you use any other weapon other than the bat you’ll fail the mission

Not too much to this mission, follow the radar to D-Ices brother and pick him up as
he fills you in on the fight rules. Head to the picnic down the dirt road in Wichita
Gardens. Get out of the car and his brother will follow and start beating on the
Nines with the bat. Keep hitting them when they’re down unless there is a more
immediate danger and after all 9 of the Nines are down for good the mission ends
successfully.
